Thank you 2016--let's move onward and upward!
Well... 2016, you have been incredible, beautiful, freeing, musical, happy, and sad. Loads of amazing things happened and I've learned so much. I've also met many fabulous people and rejuvenated older relationships.
Everyday I'm more and more excited about life, music, and the many doors that I feel that will be opening in 2017.
This year, we lost so many icons. Notably, Alan Rickman (ALWAYS!), Leonard Cohen (Hallelujah), Prince (Purple Rain), Gene Wilder (Willie Wonka), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), and her incredible mother Debbie Reynolds (Singin' in the Rain). So many, many more...... I believe the number totaled to be 133. Wow! They will continue to inspire generations to come.
Kids are needing a "safe place" and a participation trophy, Trump won the presidency, social media has gotten out of hand, people blame others for their problems instead of taking responsibility, and I--I just want to make music. For music can and shall create peace; even if it's in my own mind for a few minutes.
I did a 10 day practice challenge through Facebook-it was quite amazing and many beautiful things happened while I worked through the challenge. I practice every single day; but this challenge has changed the way I think, practice, and play. Very exciting!! Through this, I met some fabulous people in music that are beautiful inside and out. Music is my passion, but I became excited about new ideas and creativity again. We all get into a slump sometimes and I really needed something that challenged me musically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
I already have shows booked for 2017--one of them is a classical performance and I haven't played a classical solo since college. Excited and nervous at the same time. So thankful for the opportunity!!
I travelled around 30,000 miles this year-Nashville, Colorado, Alaska, Arkansas... Next stop, Florida! With travel, one learns about themselves. Being out in nature, one becomes completely free.
I'm am thrilled about 2017!
Thank you to those who have read and shared my blog, helped me through the hard times of 2016, celebrated with me in the amazing times, booked me for shows, hired me for sessions, and challenged me to become better than I am.
Let's make 2017 the best year we can!
Fiddle on my friends!
